Story & Light Society is based in East Lansing, Michigan. Classes are currently held at the historic Orchard Street Pump House, just steps from the MSU campus.
But we believe the setting can be part of the experience. Future classes, gatherings, and events may pop up in thoughtfully chosen spaces throughout the community — a local library, coffee shop, brewery, park, gallery, or anywhere else that fits what we're creating.
Always check the individual event listing for its location.

Story & Light Society is more than a place to take a photography class. It’s a creative community built around photography, shared experiences, and connection.
You might join us to learn how to use a camera, spend an afternoon photographing somewhere new, gather for Photo Club, hear from a guest artist, create alongside your child, or simply meet other people who love seeing and making photographs.
We believe photography is about more than settings and technique. It gives us a reason to explore, notice, tell stories, try something new, and connect with the people and places around us.
Come for a class, an experience, or a gathering — and become part of the Society.
